Australian aid will be distributed today to the cyclone damaged areas of Fiji.
Cyclone Tomas, with winds which peaked at 250 kilometres an hour, caused major damage in the northern and eastern islands.
An Australian Defence Force aircraft will deliver the aid to the northern and eastern areas.
Judith Robinson from AusAID, said that the extent of the damage from the cyclone is not yet known as aerial patrols have only conducted preliminary reports.
Mr. Max Soloman, an Australian who runs a resort on an island in Fiji, said that he was terrified as the cyclone ripped through the islands.
“It was quite traumatic. You could hear the wind whistling past and the louvers and walls were shaking,” he said.
